An Interesting Search Engine

May 7th, 2010 · 12 Comments

Google revolutionized the web. It makes the internet the way it is today. But, the important thing that most people forget is that it’s just a search engine. Alright, it’s the search engine but it’s still a search engine. I have been playing with another search engine. It’s a great search engine if you really want to search for things. It’s called Favitt.

Favitt: Make Search Results Page

What makes Favitt so hot! Well I made a list:

  1. It’s customizable. Yes, you get to decide what’s in the background. You have 3 backgrounds to choose from but, than you can upload your own. I found it’s better to have a simple scheme in the background so you don’t end up squinting when the search results come up. To be honest I hate the boats there in the standard background. Good thing they have the option there otherwise I would have never used the search tool in the first place.
  2. It’s powerful. You can search multiple search engines from the same page. Now why would anyone want to do that? Well, people do that all the time. I do that. Sometimes when am searching for “stuff” I search for the same thing on google and youtube at the same time. In fact, searching youtube stuff is a bit different on favitt. It’s a bit… what’s that word… It’s a bit fun and… it’s a bit simpler and… a wee bit faster.
  3. Alright so we can change the annoying background which should never have been there to start with and it’s a one page stop for most my searches. So, what? What makes it stand out? Well, it’s my home page. The power and customization that I have, I can make my unique search page. I as a user get to be the engine behind the search. You ever wondered why Google keeps changing the Google logo every day. People get bored of the same page every time. I uploaded my picture I guess I can never get bored of myself. I hope my readers don’t either. :)
