Google revolutionized the web. It makes the internet the way it is today. But, the important thing that most people forget is that it’s just a search engine. Alright, it’s the search engine but it’s still a search engine. I have been playing with another search engine. It’s a great search engine if you really want to search for things. It’s called Favitt.
What makes Favitt so hot! Well I made a list:
- It’s customizable. Yes, you get to decide what’s in the background. You have 3 backgrounds to choose from but, than you can upload your own. I found it’s better to have a simple scheme in the background so you don’t end up squinting when the search results come up. To be honest I hate the boats there in the standard background. Good thing they have the option there otherwise I would have never used the search tool in the first place.
- It’s powerful. You can search multiple search engines from the same page. Now why would anyone want to do that? Well, people do that all the time. I do that. Sometimes when am searching for “stuff” I search for the same thing on google and youtube at the same time. In fact, searching youtube stuff is a bit different on favitt. It’s a bit… what’s that word… It’s a bit fun and… it’s a bit simpler and… a wee bit faster.
- Alright so we can change the annoying background which should never have been there to start with and it’s a one page stop for most my searches. So, what? What makes it stand out? Well, it’s my home page. The power and customization that I have, I can make my unique search page. I as a user get to be the engine behind the search. You ever wondered why Google keeps changing the Google logo every day. People get bored of the same page every time. I uploaded my picture I guess I can never get bored of myself. I hope my readers don’t either.

Yuck, those boats are ugly. It is a pretty neat search engine though, thanks for letting us know about it. Not sure if I am willing to switch from Google just quite yet, but I guess it has Google results so it kind of isn’t like switching.

I wonder who uses the boats? I think no one uses them and the owner rented them for a photo shoot!
The current background is way to distracting. I barely noticed other links on the page.

Yup! Thanks for the good words!
Dennis Edell sent me a link to this post because he knows I’m always campaigning to get people to use alternate search engines. I would love to have everyone read my comment over in Aaron Wall’s SEO book site on the dangers of Google Favoring Brands.
My comment explains why what they’re doing will make the economy worse and what we can do about it and mentions my favorite search engine. I’ll try your recommendation too.
